CJ7 electrical problem

Just bought a 1980 CJ7 and rewired my lights sent it was a complete mess from previous owners and wasn't working properly. When done, my left blinker works when the headlights are off, but as soon as I turn the lights on the blinker stops.

When the lights are on, the left tail light is brighter than the right as if I'm stepping on the brake.

Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure both rear and front lamps are getting a good ground.

Good grounds and clean bulb sockets.

I had a something like that after a rewire job in an 82 cj7. I noticed after a day of checking grounds that it mattered VERY much which way the bulbs were turned in the socket! Had nearly the exact symptoms. It still took me an hour to figure out the right combination but have had no issues since. Oh and by the way the front bulbs seemed to be the most picky
