steering column

I have a 75 cj5, what columns can I get for it. I know ididit and flaming river sell them. I would like to spend less money than these go for.

Also any idea what would need to be done to make work with factory box to column?

A steering column from an old chevy truck like in the early 80's will work.

When you get the steering column make sure you also take the intermediate shaft with it. From there, you can piece together the donor shaft to the one your trying to adapt to by cutting and welding.

Or after obtaining the upper shaft you can call Borgeson. They can sell you a shaft with any size u-joint to match each end. They aren't cheap, but they're good quality & their tech support is great.

I got home from the junkyard with a cadillac column. It has tilt and the telescoping feature. The indicator switch assembly will need to be replaced though. It feels a little funky.

The column has a 1inch shaft. I haven't counted the splines yet, but I seem to remember 46 as the number.

I was looking at Speedway Motors for their couplers as well. I haven't started working on it yet. It looks like I may get lucky installing the column, and getting a coupler that is 3/4 spline to the 1 inch splined caddy column.

Thanks for the reply and I will keep all ya posted.
