'02 Grand Cherokee brake question

Well, I just changed my own brakes for the first time and thought I did a good job but I am now hearing and "feeling" a clicking in the brake pedal when I brake. I don't feel it when I am parked and press the pedal...only when I am actually driving. I rechecked all of the caliper and bracket bolts to make sure they were tight (which they were) but did notice that there was a little play in the caliper/rotor. Any thoughts?

Make sure the anti rattle clips are properly installed and the brake pad guides are seated properly. Just a thought, did you have the rotors machined and did you check the specified minimum thickness?.

I actually put new rotors on when I replaced the pads. I've noticed that there is also some play in the caliper even though the caliper bolts are tightened completely.

It's normal for the caliper to have an endplay from side to side so that the calipers can compensate for the brake pad wear and equalize the pressure on both surface of the rotors when the brakes are applied. If the endplay is in and away from the steering knucle, then check the bushings on the caliper. As previously mentioned, make sure that the Anti-rattle clip is installed properly to keep the caliper from vibrating on the bracket seats.
