transmission question

I just bought a 73 cj5. It has the 304 in it but no transmission. I do have the transfer case. Which transmission should I buy?

T176 or a T177. I have the T176 on my 81CJ7. Originally came with a 304 but has the 360 now.

The 73 cj5 would have came with the t14 or t15 transmission stock. The t176 will not bolt to the dana 20 tcase without an adapter. with out adapters or transmission mods, I believe your only choices are t14, t15, t150, or t18 if you can find one out of a cj. Do you know what tcase you do have, the spicer 18 or dana 20? I think the switch was in 71 or 72?

I think its the Dana 20. I'll be bringing her home today or tomorrow and will start going through it then.

The t14 was used behind V-6 and the t15, t150, t18 were used behind the 304 and dana 20 tcase so no mods needed for these transmissions.
