transmission pan leak

Hi, everyone. I'm new to the forum and need advice. I have a Wrangler Sport, 6 cyl. automatic and the transmission pan leaks. I've changed the gasket twice in the last 16 months, and while it stops leaking for several months, it begins again. I got the replacement gasket from Advance Auto both times. Is there a better type of gasket to get? I don't think that its the pan itself, but not positive. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

Check the pan around the bolt holes & where the gasket contacts is...make sure there are no dents or scrapes & that the area around the holes is flat. A lot of times the area around the holes gets deformed from the bolts...you may be able to tap it back in shape with a hammer & a good flat surface(like an anvil). Also don't overtighten the bolts when installing...if you overcrush the gasket it can fail.

If your absolutely sure it's the pan gasket that's leaking, try the factory replacement gasket. It's a reusable rubber gasket that doesn't require any sealant. In some cases that the pan appears to be leaking, the source is sometimes somewhere else on the the casing.
