Suggestion finding fuel lines

Hello all,

I am of need of finding fuel lines for my 89 YJ. It is a 4.2 L carb model.

I am wanting to replace the fuel tank, fuel tank straps, the fuel pump, and lines this coming spring. I can not the fuel lines. The local NAPA store does not list the fuel lines and can not order them.

Also replacing the clutch, pressure plate and fly wheel.

While I am replacing all of this, is their something else I am missing and should replace while I am already their.

I replaced my fuel lines with the one's off a Dodge Cummins Diesel. It's a stainless steel line that was long enough to be routed from the fuel tank to the carburator. It was a tricky to route and bend without putting a kink on the bends and you will need a heavy duty flaring and crimping tool to install fittings. At the carburator side, i installed a 4 inch rubber line for the Tee fitting for the fuel filter and also to buffer the vibration and movement of the engine from the stainless steel fuel lines that are fastened to the firewall of the body. Don't forget to replace the pilot bearing and throw out bearing while you replace all the other components of the clutch sytem. Although, you might have the throwout bearing/slave cylinder as a unit, that might be costly so that would be your descision if it needs it.

Another thought on the fuel lines would to go to the plastic lines. I am not sure if NAPA or Autozone sell them as a kit or not. I do not want a 100 foot roll for 6 feet.

Anyone with experiecne using the plastic lines

The bearings come as a kit. Total for Clutch, pressure plate and flywheel are $331.00.

Plastic lines has been in use in our modern cars, trucks , suv's and Jeeps for a while now. The trick is getting the ends to seal up where you splice it. Since it's a carburated engine , you might not have much issues with sealing the ends. A quick connect ends would probbably be a good idea IMO.

Nope

Local dealer got hosed with Crysler re-aligning. They had to close their doors. They were 200 yards from work and now the next closest dealer is 35 miles away.

However, would not hurt to call.
