damn speakerbar lights again

ok, i spent the better part of the day up to my elbows in electrical. I finaly got my speakerbar lights working, ill say 60% of the time. Theyre in so that when i engage the switch, they go on, except for whatever reason, the jeep must be running. I also hooked up the pressure switch that works when the door opens, but somewhere there is a circut crossed - when the door is open the light goes off and on when it is closed. All of it baffles me, and i cannot figure where i went wrong. none of the circuts are crossed that i did (far as i can tell) it makes me think there is something in the speakerbar it self wrong (but this could just be my lack of admiting when im wrong) and as far as the jeep needing to be on, im at a compleat loss. what do u guys think?

You must have just wired it up wrong...you want to wire it not to the ignition but to a constant power circuit...like maybe the clock circuit. As far as the door switch i cant help you there...my pressure switches were removed when I got the jeep (they must have had the doors off alot)[addsig]

that hates your light bar. I am getting ready to wire up a light on my bars but plan to hard switch it and avoit that extra work. Then I can control the light. There is times when I don't want the lights on when entering or exiting my jeep. You see I am a Double Naut Spy. Later Tug[addsig]

Some door pressure switches are wired negative, some are wired positve, meaning that they will either flow current with the door open, or flow current with the door closed. I know this because I wired up my stereo in my Camaro that has a sensor to know when the door to sound an alarm inside the car if things are not right. I would check to see which they are in a Jeep, or just hard-wire to the dome light switch. That way you can control it whenever you want. Plus you have the benefit of being able to take the doors off without having to mess with the door pressure switches.

Hope that helps...

actually.. it would probably never flow the current with the door closed... if the switch is positive... then the open door would complete the hot current to the light... if it is negative... an open door would allow the ground wire of the circuit to be grounded to the body[addsig]

all very good points.

#1 i wired the power to the cd player, which as i think about it right now, could have something to do w/ it. understand that im thinking about this for the first time as i write this, so im thinking outloud more then anything else. the cd player run only when the key in turned, but does not have to have the engine on. no, that wont work, because the speakers are dependet on the sterio, so theres no point in re wireing it to somethig else. ill have to sit on that point a bit longer.

#2 the pressure switch works because the interior lights that came with the jeep work fine.

#3 wasn't it during WWII that pilots had Gremlens messing around w/ our planes making them do evil things? maybe i should rename the rig "mogley" (from Gremlens)[addsig]
