Colling fan CJ5

I am wanting to install a pusher Cooliing fan on my CJ5. It has a 350 ci motor and it does get hot while at idel or low rpm conditions. Any recommendations ?

Try Napa Auto Parts. I use an automatic fan control module that can be set to a desired temperature. Since I'm using a puller fan and having access to a Jeep Grand Cherokee electric fan, I've modified the mounting holes on the fan module and incorporated it into the Factory CJ7 fan shroud and bolted it on.

Your engine gets hot at low rpm????????? There is something else wrong!

Do you mean while crawling( low speed) ???

As far as a fan go's, you can go to a junk yard and get a ford Taurus electric fan for pretty cheap, it has two settings high and low, the low setting keeps my sbc in my jeep cool. You have to buy a relay switch to put on it. I run mine off of a dash mounted switch so I can shut it off for deep water. how many blades are on your mechanical fan now? you can get mechanical fans with more blades for better cooling off of 70's and early 80s full size v8 jeeps, I think you can get them with up to 8 blades and believe me they will move more air. Is your water pump going out??

Thanks for the ideas, yes I should have said lower speeds result in higher temps. It does not overheat to the point of boiling over, but I am heading to Moab this summer and I don't want to be crushing out in the hills in 100deg. plus temps. and start running hot. So I like the idea of just having a fan on a relay switch to assist the motor.

First go through the maintenance items.

Proper fluid mix. There is a point of too little and too much antifreeze.
Proper fill and expansion tank.
Proper thermostat temp.
Thermo that opens wide for good flow. I like stant.
Belt not skipping
Pump moves fluid
Clean fins inside and outside.
If this is a clutch fan be fire the clutch is ok and kicks in and disengages properly.

Fan shroud
Fin density if this is not a OEM radiator.

At .35 mph and above there should be no need for a fan at all. Enough air should be being forced through the radiator to sufficiently cool the emgine.

Some favor the Tarus fan but I went the Ford Contour/Merc Mystique dual fan shroud way as I heard they flow more air (be it fallacy or not) and the way I have 'em wired if one fails I have a backup.

The fans I got from that Merc came with their own two speed controller,
