:???:so if anyone has an idea about if it will fit and how much of the drive train im going to have to replace to keep from killing my jeep... i want to put a 302 or 350 in but i dont even know where to start or what to buy... thanks for any help you can give me:???:

Well since you haven't told us what kind of jeep you have it will make things harder to get you the right information. 302 swaps are fairly easy. Depending on which transmission you have you may not even need an adapter. Ford and Jeep used the same transmissions for the most part and chances are good a Ford bellhousing will bolt to the transmission you already have. If you are going to get an adapter, I would opt for an adapter to mate the Ford transmission to the Jeep transfercase, a world Class T5 from a mustang will bolt in with the right adpater or the T-18 granny low 4 speed will bolt straight in as well. They have motor mounts for I think $100 a pair and you can use a factory radiator from a 304 equipped Jeep. Run your exhaust and any additional wiring you may need and your'e done.

Just my opinion here but considering there isn't much power difference between a 302 and a v6 I would say it isn't worth the effort, plus there is the added weight of a v8.
Now if you were to use a 350 there is a power difference worth looking at and then you might as well use a 400cid engine and get 50 more cubes and no more weight than a 350.
But like was said already what Jeep you have and what you want to do with it makes a huge difference in the decision.

Just my opinion but I don't think Ggg Has been informed very well. SOOO, Here is some food for thought:
302 is MUCH lighter than a 350 by about 100 lbs, it is even lighter than the 4.0 I6
302 is narrower than a 350, This makes swapping them into tighter places easier, and the front mounted distributor means no firewall modifications are necessary.

FI 302 from a Ford truck makes 205HP--290ft. lbs
TBI 350 from a Chevy makes 190HP--268 ft. lbs--Notcie this is the worst rating of the group.
Vortec 350 from a Chevy makes 255 HP-330 ft. lbs
302 from a Mustang makes 225HP-300 ft. lbs
302 from an Explorer makes 235HP--315 ft. lbs.--this is a full roller motor with GT40p heads and is VERY capable of over 400 HP with some very minor modifications (cam swap computer tuning and some very minor porting)

At 190 and 268 I would think the 350 TBI would be the biggest waste of engine swap resources, especially when you could swap a 4.3L Vortec and get the same numbers (200Hp and 260 ft. lbs.) in a lighter package.

I really wasn't trying for a personal attack, I was just putting some raw numbers out there, Sorry if you took me wrong.
