i just bought a 87 yj with a 4.2 and all the vacuum lines to front diff were cut near firewall i bought some vacuum line today and the front driveshaft turns freely.do all 87's have a 4x4 dashlight ?

since buying my87 yj i have replaced distributor,carb,alt,starter,fan and now vacuum lines to front diff.it runs better but need advice about exhaust currently it has a leaking manifold and then pipe to muffler should i stay with oem manifold or a header magniflow setup? thanks

I say if you have to replace it, you might as well upgrade to a set of headers, but that's just me. Is it leaking at the collector or at the head? If it's at the head, then it could be the gasket that's gone; a cheap, but not always easy, fix. Don't drive it for too long like that if that's where the leak is. Eventually, it could lead to an exhaust valve going bad.

You have a 4wd light activated by a switch on the firewall. 2 vacuum lines will run from the transfer case to the front axle, then one vacuum line from the front axle up to the firewall to activate the 4wd light.
