My Jeep is dorky....

Hi everyone. I just wanted to state that my Jeep is dorky. Well, it is still better than ANY other NON Jeep out there :purple: but it's just an old fart Jeep. (Even tho I am not an old fart) I have a 2000 Sahara... that yicky Pearl Sand color.. the top matches of course.... everything matches everything and I have just HAD it. My red hair looks good in it tho.. HAHA.

I wanna make my old man SOOO jealous, he just hides and cries. HEEHEE. SO, what can I do to this thing? It has NO mods except for a 16" Sub woofer.. hahaha.... a necessity for sure. Keep in mind, I don't have a bottomless wallet.
Okay, now I don't go off road... not yet anyway.... SO... I don't need any really rough and tough stuff....I wanna just make it LOOK bad but really it's a girly Jeep.... HA!

I would like to add lots of black to it.. I wanna get rid of the dorky stock bumper but I don't need anything over the top. I don't think that flashy stainless would look good on the sand color?? So what can I do to it? How much will it cost to have it lifted a tad? Should I bother since it's a mall crawler? Help a girl out here!!!

So.. I also just started working full time... and I talked my husband into letting me keep my first two checks instead of kicking in for household bills... HA HA!! Don't ask... you DON'T wanna know how I accomplished THAT! :purple:
Any suggestions????
P.S. It even still has the lame-o Sahara spare cover with the palm tree or whatever........yipes.
Don't get me wrong... I would fist fight a man, or cat fight a woman  , for my Jeepy.. but it just needs some help . :p

This is a quote from my mother in law.... " You know what they say about girls who drive those Jeeps don't ya... their (in hushed tones ) Lesbians."
Ha Ha Ha Nana... if you ONLY knew... :D

Well, I would think a front bumper upgrade with some lights.

Tube bumpers !?! Please.. that so...dorky!

A good short rock crawler one looks better...224$ from Quadratec

As for lift....go with a 2 inch budget boost lift and shoe in on some 31's with some over aggressive treads to scare the other moms at the mall.
Then go skid plate wild...plate every surface you can with black powder coated armor platting. Will look hot;.

:agree: 31" Goodyear Wrangler MTR's would Look AWSOME and handle really well.

Yeah, I hate that color. ;)

I't not that bad, but when you ENTIRE JEEP is that color.... HEY, wait a minute!.....your color looks a lot like mine.. but not the same. Yours looks more silvery and much cooler... mine looks like a McDonalds foamy chocolate shake that sat in the sun for a few days.

Okay.. it's not THAT bad.. but it's not way cool either. 8)

Okay.. see that garage in the picture I just posted.... the neighbors have been growing weed in there for YEARS now 8) ......at night they turn on their grow lights.... the first time I saw it in the middle of the night... I thought a freakin' UFO was landed in my yard! They actually tore half the roof off and put that plexiglass stuff there.... and NO ONE EVER NOTICED! HA! The people behind us pulled a murder / suicide thing before christmas... cops everywhere and not one wondered why that garage was modified! What's wrong with people???? When I am the most "normal" one in the hood... look out! I live in a real yuck-yuck kinda town....WEEEEHOOOOOO! If anyone wants to place an order for the upcoming crop I will see what I can do :purple: Just kidding......

I think it looks good. All it needs is some bigger tires, 31s should do it and maybe a couple inch lift and that would change the looks a lot. Also take off those plastic things on the end of your front bumper if you don't replace it.

I like that color (said the dorky old guy)

Nothing would give it more attitude like a lift kit and some aggressive tires.

I concur with Currupt. a 2" budget boost (aka coil spacer lift) and soem new 31" tires. At the minimum some all terrain type like the BFG All-terrains, but a set of mudders would look sweet...

I have to agree with the short lift and 31's I just put a 2" lift in my cherokee and it made a huge difference in looks. I went with the BDS coil spring spacers and longer shocks total cost was around $700 for lift and tires installed by the shop so no fuss no muss and waranty.

Okay.. so I think everyone thinks I should go with the 31's and some girly lift.. now .... who is gonna do this for me? I am not gonna walk into my local BFGoodrich tire shop for this, right?? Should I enlist my old man and his Jeep'n buddy or is this a shop/lift job? If I walk in there all female, they are gonna see me coming, ya know? What should this lift be costing me??
There is a 4x4 shop a few miles away where I see all these monster trucks and whatnot... but ...again....I don't want them to rip me off since I have breasts and all.
The 31's I saw online were 200 bucks a piece... ???? I better be seriously kickin' some bad *!# 8) if I am rollin' outta there with $900 worth of tires!

I have NEVER had a flat tire in my entire life... no joke, not ever. I can guarantee you that the minute I roll outta there struttin' my 31 inchers.... there will be a wayward roofing nail with my name on it! That would really amuse my husband.....I can hear it now...

Another stupid question... if I get these 31 inchers.. I MUST get the lift, right away with it, correct? Will my tires rub when I turn hard or what ? Sorry, I don't know this stuff.
Or can I do either and save for the other? :?: If I don't get the lift, it will look like a Matchbox car with those tires on it, right? I saw one the other day that has some serious meats on it and it didn't look lifted, maybe it had 2 inches.?? I don't know but it was seriously cool 8) and lookin like something you'd buy at the toy store....

You can run 31's without a lift, although if your running factory rims you may have to adjust the steering stops to prevent rubbing with the steering at full lock. And I dont know what kind of tire your looking at, but 200 each for 31's is awful steep. Id keep looking if I were you.

Oh yea, and although I havent done one, it seems that the spacer lifts are extremely simple with a few basic tools and a few hours. You might do some more reading on that and consider doing it yourself, or with a few friends to help.

My Jeep has Goodyear MTR 31s and no lift. I don't think it looks like a matchbox car.

Actually, I saw a jeep around here that was one of the coolest jeeps I'd seen in a while. What he did was accent it with black accessories.

Black bumpers
Black Armor
Black Fender Flares
Black Wheels

It looked GREAT

Okay.. so I think everyone thinks I should go with the 31's and some girly lift.. now .... who is gonna do this for me?

First off let your fingers do the walking girl....call around after you decide what size lift, type and tire package. A hour drive to another towns 4x4 shop could save you hundreds....
Girly lift? a 2 inch budget boost is a good lift unless you wanna spend 2 grand on a monster long arm kit.
Remember its not the tire size or lift...its the drivers skills.

If I walk in there all female, they are gonna see me coming, ya know? What should this lift be costing me??

Call around, another thing is check the Internet for the price of lifts, type and cost...
Try Quadratec , 4 wheel drive hardware, Acme jeep parts, or JC whitney...

There is a 4x4 shop a few miles away where I see all these monster trucks and whatnot... but ...again....I don't want them to rip me off since I have breasts and all.!..
Money talks louder then those...trust me tell the shop what you want, listen and ask questions like is everything included? Then get it in writting...and if you have to...use them to your advantage, no man alive can refuse talking to them.

The 31's I saw on line were 200 bucks a piece... ???? I better be seriously kickin' some bad *!# 8) if I am rollin' outta there with $900 worth of tires!..

Think again here Red... your talking 1000$ never buy 4 large tires and leave your spare at the 29 inch size. If you get a flat off road and totally destroy the tire...putting off size tires and engaging 4 wheel drive can cost you more money down the road then just putting out that extra 2 bills today.

Now 200$ a tire!!!! I run 35 inch MT/r's and they cost me 204$ a tire! Some one is trying to snow you with extra costs here...go back and ask what are they tacking on?!?
You don't need an aggressive mudder unless thats all your jeep is going to do...
How much time does your jeep drive off road compared to street?
It really sucks wasting 1100$ on tires when all you really need is a 800$ set that performs well on the street and off-road.
JP magazine every year compares tires you can order the rag, then send for this years back issue on there comparison tire issue.

There are 5 31" BFG AT's for sale in the for sale forum... for 500 bucks... brand new he says...
