YJ lift

I was given a set of add-a-leafs and 2" shackle lifts. I was wondering if there was anything else I was going to need when I install them. Also how big of a tire do you think I'll be able to go with?

i dont think u r lifting it enough to have ta worry about a transfer case drop and id put new shocks in it for a 2inch lift that way u know u r good to go

Shackle lifts are the worst method of lifting a jeep, they decrease your approach and departure angles, change your pinion angles, and are pretty fugly. Keep in mind that a shackle lift will only lift the jeep 1/2 the difference between the stock shackle and the aftermarket shackle. So a shackle 2" longer will lift the jeep 1", while netting 2" of lift from a shackle would require one 4" longer than stock. That's 8" between the shackle bolts, way too much shackle.

The add-a-leaf (AAL) isn't a bad idea as long as they're the full-length style. The short AAL's are too stiff and will destroy your ride and your leaf packs over time.

Consider installing TJ fender flares and trimming the sheet metal some to fit larger tires, much more room than the YJ fenders.

i didnt know tjs had bigger fenderwells. im gonna look for a set of tj flares for my yj now and trim the sheetmetal to fit. thanks for the info bounty hunter.
