I've heard the rearend they put in most toyota pickups and 4runners are pretty strong. Are these easy to come by and for how much. Are they a lot narrower than D35s??

Strong, I guess so, they are stronger than a D35, the are probably of equal strenth as a D44, 30 spline axles??. The good part about toyota rears is that most of the "sr5 tacoma" rear ends are a high pinion rear end, but are hard to find... as for width, depends what it is going into? A cj, it is a similar width from the Wheel mounting points, as for YJs and TJs, they are about 2.25-2.75 inches narrower (depends on year and model) A better choice would ne a 8.8 out of a 95+ explorer, easier to find, 31 spline axles and disc brakes!

snitty mentioned a good point, if you gettta TRD rear it also comes w/ a locker..... there is a guy that swings by here a occasionally that had a tacoma rear axle.... he name is TJ-7....i thnk...
