Window weatherstripping for my '87 MJ Comanche

Well...I'm finally getting around to fixing the vandalized window on my MJ.

I found the glass and the fly window assembly in the salvage yard...$45 for the glass and $35 for the fly window.

The problem is that I'm having a problem finding new weatherstripping for the window. I really only need what is called a "wipe set" which is the inside and outside bottom rubber strips of the window. (see below)

The Jeep dealer said he could order the outside strip for $36 (for only the left side)...highway robbery!

I passed on that one and found a complete set online...inside and outside strips for BOTH doors at Jeep XJ, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Commanche and Jeep Wagoneer Parts: Weatherstrip for 69.95 +shipping. Seems to be a much better deal...but...my question is whether any of you Jeepz experts out there have heard of this company and if so, are they reliable?

Also, have you heard of any other reliable sources for older Jeeps weatherstripping? I've searched all the big named places online with no luck.

Your comments are really appreciated.

Oh no! Please stop! I can't handle all the responses.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

That's okay.
I guess weatherstripping of MJ's is not a big priority to most. :???:

I did go ahead and order the kit from Grand Wagoneer Parts and Jeep Parts

Hope it works out :?|...I'll know pretty soon if it does or doesn't.

Nothing was stolen? Just a broken window?

I did a little google-fu, and I couldnt come up with anything for you, Larrymo. I think you did the right thing.

That's right Itchee. They broke the window and left the door wide open, but didn't seem to even touch anything on the inside. I think they might have been scared off by another car or ????? Amateurs :?|:?|

Anyway, thanks for doing some checking for me. I appreciate the effort. This "Team Grand Cherokee" was the only company I found with some pretty good offers for obscure items like weatherstripping, and not just for Wagoneers but XJ's and MJ's also.

I'll try to let everyone know if they have decent service and send me the right parts.

For the record Grand Wagoneer Parts and Jeep Parts provided excellent and efficient service. I had never used them before and was a little skeptical at first, but they sent me all of the appropriate weatherstripping for my Comanche window (replaced both sides).

Saved about $100 compared to the dealers prices.

Sorry Larrymo, i'm not a reliable source for aftermarket parts. i paid 67.00 for the weatherstrip set for mine and thats with a Chrysler Discount. i almost Crap my pants when i found out the driver side is more expensive. :(-- thats through a dealer. i have an account with 4wdHardware and by the time i pay for shipping it would have cost almost just as much and i have to wait at least 4 days before i get it.

Larry,
Thanks for the vote of confidence.
I've also came across their site when I Googled for weatherstripping for my Grand Cherokee.
I couldn't find anyone else that had the weatherstripping I was looking for.
But I have a question for you before I order.
There's a box to enter a coupon code on the checkout page.
Did you have a code to use when you ordered from them?
I signed up on their site, hoping that they might send an offer (code) in an email.
If you know anything about their coupons or coupon codes, I'd like to hear about what you know.
I might just go ahead and give them a call, and ask how I might receive a coupon to use, (for a first time user).
Also, I'd like to give you a referral, if they have any type of referrel bonuses.
Anyway, thanks.
Man, I'm glad I've found this site!

Bob,

I didn't have or find any coupon code, or any promotions. I was just glad to find something that no one else seemed to offer...at least for a reasonable price...and as a complete kit.

You should be able to find out more by calling them directly, if you haven't already.

Thanks for the referral also. You might want to direct them to this thread. They may want to advertise with Terry here at Jeepz.com

Good luck and let me know if they treat you right as well.

Thanks.
I did make a call to them after I posted here, and this is what the lady told me.
She said they normally offer coupon codes to their "older customers", (and I'm sure she meant that as customers who've ordered from them long ago)
I mean, heck, I'm 52, is that old enough. LOL
(I didn't say that to her)
So, she asked how big of an order was I wanting to place.
I said if about $38.
She then came back with "I could give you free shipping".
I said, "Great, I'll take it!"
So, she asked my name, and told me that she would be looking for the order, as I told her I was ready to order online, unless she wanted to take my order over the phone. she said, it would probably be best to do it online, so I would get the email correspondence regarding the tracking number, and shipping details, etc.
So, I'm glad they were willing to offer something, that was nice of them to do that.
Thanks again.
