I have a 1993 Grand cherokee. I am removing the transfer case. Can someone tell me the best way to remove the top bolt where transfer case attaches to transmission, it's a very tight fit and I am wondering how the pros do it. Thanks.
I usually lower the transmission(TILT) down far enough to get a stubby wrench in there and remove the nut. Make sure your shifter is not going to bind on the shift bezel or tower.
That's exactly how I did it in my '99 Trans Am! Tight fit like you wouldn't believe...until, like SteelHeadz said, I tilted the transmission downward, then like Onkover said, I took a looooong extension with a u-joint and an air ratchet and I could literally have the transmission out of the car for service in under 45 minutes from the time I parked the car to the time I was drinking a diet coke.
