Hey PASmokeEater, My brother made these for the rear inner fender "arm rests" cause he likes to lean on them too like your kids. He had 1/2 inch rubber flooring hangin around and he cut them to size, and threw them on there. Now its a little more comfortable for him to lean on, beats the spikey rubber...
and the only part that gets hot is the passangers side tunnel, right of the shifter. Its just a little warm, nothing gets too hot.
