suspension lift questions???

I had a 3.5 Rubicon Express lift installed and I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with. My shifter takes a little more effort to shift into 2nd and 4th, it looks like the transmission has beed pushed back and know my shifter has to go back further and...the rubber accordian boot around the shifter is what is making it tough to shift...if this makes any sense, is there a way to fix it to where it shifts normally.

You probably had a transfer case drop installed along with the lift. It is not uncommon for a transfer case drop to cause that problem. Do you also have a body lift? That will also cause the same problem and/or add to it with a TC drop. You have two choices really... 1- Deal with it as it is... 2- Cut or dent the transmission tunnel back so you have more room for the shifter to travel.

what some guys have done is go get the leather boot from the newer model wranglers from the dealership, installing this frees up a little extra space so you dont have to cut the inside of your consol where its hitting. if you pull the rubber shifter boot up youll see where its probably contacting.

thanks 4 the advise, I Have a 04 Rubi, and the problem is the leather boot is bunching up so much cause it has to go back further, and if I pull the leather boot off from the base, it travels freely and no problem, so I quess I have to modify the palstic case around it, one more thing, do I have to have the transfer case drop, I looked under there and it look like I really dont need it, what is it meant for.

the tcase drop is meant to help your drive shaft angle in the rear. with the rubi having a fixed driveshaft you may be able to get away with it, but dont take my word for it. the tcase drops are used because the angle of your current driveshaft is too much for the single u joints, a fix to this is to call tom woods or hi angle driveline and order a CV style drive shaft for your rubicon.
