Super death wobble

Just put a 6 inch long arm on a lj and I get up around 25 and it shakes so bad I have to stop. Going to get it aligned now to see if that helps I no it's off bad. Any other suggestions ? Plz help

I think lots of people say you need to get camber adjusting bolts and push the axle as forward as possible.

i have only had dw once and it was on a stock commanche. All the many other jeeps never had anyghing like that

I only had it once as well, took it to the shop, 3000 bucks later it was gone but my wheels are still ovular from my jeep having it so long (before I bought it). I would say take it in, or (if death wobble is what I think it is) get a lift kit and replace the springs maybe.

What kit do you have & what came with the kit? 7 out of 10 its the track bar.
There could be other thing though. You need to look at everything that ties the front end together.
Did you tighten the control arms with the jeep on the ground or on the jack stands?
Give us more feed back on the lift and what you did.

I took and got my jeep aligned and now I have death wobble. ):

Firestone says my tires need replacing because the belts have shifted or shift while driving. I asked how could I go from only having a little pull to the right to now I cannot get on the highway and all you guys did was align the jeep and rotate the tires? They told me sometimes it happens but they repulled all the tires and rebalance them rotated them again. Now it has a lot less wobble but it's still there and only above 65 so I think I am going to get them rebalanced and rotated again before I look into new tires

It's a rough country lift and I'm thinking it's a track arm as well I tightinend everything after the jeep was on tires so it was in a resting position

You'll need new trackbars (front and back), or at least brackets - they should have come in the kit.

Your Jeep will have to be aligned (mine was off pretty bad after my 2.5" lift). The lift may also exacerbate existing problems (I had to change our my worn ball joints).

So, take it to be aligned. Ask them for a printout of the specs when you leave it with them. When you pick it up they'll give you something like this (after I installed a 2" spacer lift):

I have new track bars I just think I put them on wrong I'm gonna swith them around tomorrow and see if it helps. And I took it to get it aligned today and the said they wouldn't do it until I fix the axel because it's over on the left about an inch further than the right but I'm thinking that to could be because I have the tracks on wrong does that sound like it could ?

The trackbar positions the axle under your Jeep, so if it's not setup correctly then your axle will poke on one side of your Jeep more than the other. You need to center then axle, then set your trackbar to the correct length (is it adjustable, or a fixed length?).

Post some photos and we'll let you know if it's installed correctly.

got mine fixed, was a bad balance from firestone.

on your adjustable track bar, hang some string with washers tied on the lower end from you fenders and then see where they hit your tires. move the body over a little at a time until the washers hit the tires evenly. then adjust your track bar until it fits properly. thats how i did mine when i had to put an adjustable track bar on my cherokee when i put a 5" lift on it. worked great and the shop said they didn;t have to mess with the axle being off center because it was in the middle

Well today I got the back fixed but the front was still off a little but not as bad. I took it for a ride got it up to 45 didn't wobble the whole time so ima take it to a shop and see if the can get in the air and get to the front better than I could

Firestone may know tires but what they know about DW could be written in large type and stuck in your eye with nothing being felt.

First, if your steering and suspension are working properly, you CANNOT experience DW. (read that over about three times)

You could have all flat tires and still not have it. Bad tires CAN have a "triggering effect" to start DW, but they will Never cause it.

For more information than you probably want, go to Death Wobble .

There you can find the causes and how to diagnose nearly any DW problems you will encounter. There are some things there you won't hear of anywhere else that I have seen.

Take the time to view the Teraflex videos on aligning a lifted Jeep. The lift they are doing probably is not even close to yours but the basics of alignments are all the same. You will learn some special things about aligning lifted Jeeps that most alignment shops do not know and this is often where they go wrong. If they miss the caster adjustment, you may have DW when you shouldn't.

When my ex's cherokee had it and my TJ had it, it was the steering stabilizer shock on the front of the jeep.
I get a slight wobble now around 90 km/h but once I speed up it goes away, I chaulk it up to needing new tire....and that I do...my 31's are looking dreadful.

You either did not read some of the above posts or you weren't paying attention.
Read the following about 5-times.

If your steering and suspension are working properly, you CAN NOT have Death Wobble.

If you suspect or if you know you have death wobble, one thing we recommend while checking to see if you have repaired it is to either disconnect the steering damper or remove it. Steering dampers can mask DW, but they NEVER cause it. Tires of any kind and in any condition do not cause DW. They can contribute to setting it off but absolutely, positively cannot cause DW.

If you want to know about DW, what causes it and how to fix it, go to
Death Wobble

You will learn some things there that few others will tell you about. While you are there, check out the "On the Happy Trails" pages for some trail stories to entertain you and make you want to go Jeeping when your DW is repaired.
