Stock transmision and transfer???

What kind of transmission and transfer case would most likely be in my jeep???Is it a good one or a bad one???I have a 82 CJ7 258 6cyl 5spd. Thanks :wink: Sully[addsig]

My guess would be that you have a T5 transmission because its the only 5 speed transmission offered in that year. Its a light duty unit but still much stronger than its 1990's AX-5 counterpart. The better transmission used in your year of jeep is the T-176. I know you do not have that one because it is a 4 speed unit.

The transfer case would have to be a Dana300. One of the best transfer cases that ever came in a jeep. Its gear driven and very stout with a cast iron case and a 2.62:1 low range. Another great thing about the Dana300 is the ability to get a twin stick kit for it. This allows you to control the case's range on each axle separately which allows for 2LO. You can also have just front wheel drive if you want. [addsig]

What fluids should I use for the trannsfer case,the diffs,and the manuel transmission???I dont know how old those fluids are so I want to change them. Sully[addsig]
