Sound Bar Spearker Install Help -03 Wrangler

I plan on installing some speakers (circuitcity.com/ccd/produ...3784#prodspecs)
for the roll bar and wanted to know if there are detailed instructions on how to do this. They are 6.5s and cheap but have decent reviews and are only going to be used with a 50X4 headunit and I am only looking for sound as good if not a little better than the factory speakers.

My understanding is that in a TJ Wrangler (2003) that they should fit (Circuit City seems to think so anyway) but that I might have to drill some new holes. Is it as simple as unplugging the old ones and putting the new ones in? Do you need any special connectors or do you need to soder or anything? What tools are needed for this job? If anyone has done this, step by step instructions would be great.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All you'll need to do is unplug the old ones, drill some new holes and mount the new ones. Very simple really. No special connectors and no sodering necessary.

You might consider installing 5.25" speakers in the front dash using this adapter plate. That is an even easier install.

So the factory plug will attach right to the speaker? I will not need a speaker wire harness adapter like this (Metra Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth Speaker Harness)? Sorry, cannot post links as I am too new here.

I have heard some say that some 6.5 inch speakers will not fit without cutting or modding the sound bar some. Do you think I could get a pair of 6.5's in there with only drilling new holes or would it be safer just to go with the 5.25s? Sadly I am not going to have much time to do this and want to avoid having to do too much fabrication but would really like the extra bass of the 6.5s.

No harness adapter necessary. Just unplug the wires from the old speakers and plug them onto the new. I'm not the handiest guy out there when it comes to modding things but it was really easy to install the larger speakers. It has been three or four years since I did this but I'm almost positive that there was not any cutting involved. The stock speakers fit inside the sound bar depression but the larger 6.5 mount to the outer surface and just need new holes. Make sense?

Yeah, I think I can picture what you are saying... makes a lot of sense. I still cannot picture how the factory leads will connect to the new speakers, but I guess once I have things appart it will make sense.

Do you remember what brand speakers you got? Thanks again for the help!

Boston Acoustics originally but replaced them with Alpines. I thought I'd blown one but it turned out to be the soundbar light lens rattling with the deep bass.:roll:
