Running with it...

My stats for 2007 -

I ran 1866 miles in 2007. Most of it was on a treadmill. I alos ran3 half-marathons and a 5K race. Did I win, place or show? Nah... But I did run them and improved my time with each competition.

Then last Sunday, I was on my Long run for the week. I started out shooting for 5 miles. Then 5.55 miles, and finally 6.5 miles. It didn't happen. At 6.363 miles, my treadmill suddenly died under my feet (that was a shock).

The incline motor still works but the belt does not turn. The motor does not turn. I don't know if it is the motor, the thermal switch or the circuit board. I do know that I have replaced 5 pulley belts on the thing. I was never really pleased with the quality of the NordicTrack C2200 treadmill.

I went out on a mission to get a new treadmill. After days of searching, I ended up with a Vision Fitmess T9200 Premier. I picked it up this morning, got it set up and had to come in to work. Bummer...

Why the premier? It has training programs for my competitions. It will give me tempo runs, intervals, and has a virtual partner to run against.

I'll let you know soon how I like it.

Cool, it's really good that you enjoy running. I can run, did a lot of it in the Army, but never really enjoyed it. Well, there were a few runs I enjoyed when I actually felt like I could run forever (kinda like a Forrest Gump run)

I hated it in the Army, too. I was a much younger man when I enlisted.

Then I got old and fat and let myself go. Now, I still eat like a pig, but I eat decently and just run off the extra.

It works really well with taking the Jeep out on trails. A friend drives The Mighty YJ and I run the trail. It can really work for trail photos and movies, too.

I'm working up towards running again. I ran x-country and track all through school then got married and lazy. Now I'm walking a lot and doing a little jogging to drop a few pounds and then the plan is to start running each day again. It's hard to get started, so good job for being able to keep it up.

I never have been a runner. Used to ride Freestyle and Mtn bikes like crazy though. Broke my knee cap in the 7th grade and took a while to get over. Couldn't run very far after that. I believe I'm going to have to find the time and energy to try again. I've got a little boy to teach baseball and football.

I took a small caliper bullet in the right leg,in my younger days, the bullet exited through the Patella. Running any kind of distance more than 50 feet will never happen again in this life time.
For low impact, exorcism of the fat demons, I spend my free time on my Road bike, yes I am one of those old fools on the side of the road worth 25 points.
When I lived in Arizona I trained all year long, when we moved to Utah, 14 degrees and bike riding don't get along, so I bought a set of indoor rollers, seven years and I still haven't gotten the hang of them, its a terrible sight to see me crashing. So I gain a little weights during the winter to loose it during the summer.

Getting started IS the difficult part of getting back into running!

It helps to be inspired. I really wanted to continue to live heart attack free. So, I had to change my diet and start to exercise.

As you run outside look for areas where runners go in your city or town. Join a running group. Get inspired.

BTW - I have gotten a new treadmill and it is kicking my ****, but you get the idea. I gained 12 pounds over the holidays but have already lost 3 of them!
