Rocker guards - Verdict please

I had these made, and the guy who made them changed the design from what I originally asked for. He made the steps 4" out and I wanted 3". They aren't what I really wanted, but they were obtained through the barter system and they're what I got so I put 'em on. I still have one more bolt to put in the back hole (ran out of bolts  ). I'm not sure if I like them or not. They stick out a little farther than I'd like. Other than that they're real solid and well built. I'm going to keep 'em for a while and if I decide I don't want them I'll replace them with black diamondplate and get a set of the rectangular type nerf bars (I think Oly 4x4 makes them). What do you think, keep em or put 'em on ebay???

Sorry the pix are poor quality, it's late and I have an outdated digital camera.

Oh, and yes that's snow falling tonight! Happy Jeep!

They look fine, but dont settle for something your not happy with, especially if it's going on your jeep! Put those suckers on ebay

I say sell em'.Get what you want.Dont settle for almost what you want. And get some that run from the rear fender to the front, not a half way bar.

they'd be pretty kick @$$ if they went from flare to flare, and not from extension to flare... why do we all swap stuff in the first place? B/C we are unhappy with the originals... i say put em on ebay and get what you really want. my $.02

lift kit for 82 cj7

Do you like them?

if yes, keep em
If no sell em

don't settle for something that is not what you wanted

Put them on ebay and make your own. I am going to pick up a welder this month and that is my 1st project. The basic design will hold up so I can learn to weld on them and it will not affect performance if I screw up.

Get some from flare to flare like these:

I instant messaged the dude a link to that thread on Jeepz when you posted those pix. I told him I wanted the 4x4 angle iron and a 2"x3" side bar on it (I figured it would be a little better of a step instead of 2x2).

This all came from an eBay auction I was selling a set of aftermarket side steps and I really don't have much in them money-wise. Well we got to talking and we worked out a trade, but he kinda took it upon himself to change the design. Next thing you know I get a set with 4" side plates (not angle iron) and the bar sticks out 4" from my sides. I'm obviously not liking these or I wouldn't have made this post, I just wish I didn't put them on at all  . I guess it's gonna be black diamondplate until I can dump these things and get something else done. Who knows, maybe I'll try my hand at welding and do them myself!

avyoung, have you decided on which welder you are getting?

I'm sure they'll work for somebody. A friend's CJ has some that wide, but he has Swamper Boggers that stick really far out, and the wide steps are about the same width, so it's not a problem. You should be able to get a decent price for them.

96 Grand Cherokee Help Please!

Well 2 good things came out of this. I realized by looking at those pix my tires are over-inflated, and my Jeep needs a good cleaning

Jeep90 I think I am going to go with the Lincoln Electric 100 HD. They have one at Home Depot for $325. The gas kit is another $97 but I will not get it yet. I can not find a sears with the one you bought.

avyoung, you have to order it off their website....they are not available through the store. you could either have it sent to their store or your house.
