Rear Lamp Message

There is a lamp out module in the left rear (Driver side rear) quarter panel. If remember correctly the spare tire is mounted on that quarter panel. Remove the spare tire from the mount, look for an access panel on the corner area. Remove the cover and look for a rectangular box with a bunch of wires plugged into it. remove that module and open it, inspect the circuit board for overheating and or burnt circuits. Most of the time it's repairable, very few needs replacement. This module is used for a towing circuit protection and sends a signal back to the information center. if the circuit is burnt, the wrong resistance value will cause the false lamp out warning to be sent to the information center.

Also, bear in mind that there are THREE lamps in the third brake light ass'y. If the middle one burns out, then it appears to be functioning just fine, but that will trip the VIC when you hit the brakes.

Also, if you don't have the specific (2057 from memory, please double check) bulbs in the running lights and brake lights, THAT will trip the VIC as well. Pull the bulbs, verify the part numbers against the manual, and replace them if they differ. Bulbs are cheap...you can always keep the ones you have for spares if you're in doubt.
