power steering...

on the way home tonight i stopped at the gas station to get some orange juice. when i left i noticed a large gathering of water beside the store so i decided why not just drive through it. it was probably about 50 feet by 50 feet by 2 feet deep in the center. about half way through it i had to make a turn to exit the parking lot and realized that my power steering didnt seem to be working. has this happened to anyone else??? I didnt hear any belts squealing but could that also be a problem??? i plan on replacing my belts on tuesday (my day off ).

There's really no other reason for it to quit working like that, and then resume working afterwards, other than a slipping belt.

I have had that happen, but I always thought it to be the belt slipping because of the water, cause it has not done it again since that time about 6 months ago when I did exactly the same thing you mentioned!

cool thanks, i am replacing my belts tomorrow and going back to the same spot to test them out.
