Please watch, dont let this happen to us

currupt4130, some good points. THere was another college shooting, I think in Oklahoma. It was stopped after a few people were shot. It was stopped by a student that was legally carrying a concealed handgun. If not for him how many would have died?

Please review the following page from FactCheck.org--a non-partisan group which tries to get beyond the hype and untruths of political statements from both the left and right to present the truth to the American public: FactCheck.org: NRA Targets Obama. Essentially, president-elect Obama does not oppose the right to own and use guns for hunting or home protection, but does support some restrictions on such rights (such as the assault weapons ban), and probably a greater limitation of rights on handguns than on long guns. Read the facts, get educated, and don't believe everything that shows up in your in box.

Also remember that Obama is no dummy--he knows that he will be more effective governing from the center than from the left. So far, in as much as you can tell from his pre-inauguration actions, he is building a coalition government, and showing no far-left tendencies. Even Newt Gingrich seems impressed: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=99536775.

David you made my points. He wants to restrict "assault weapons" have you looked at what he is calling assault weapons? He wants to bann handguns. He voted for the Chicago handgun bann which is unconstitutional. I have checked my facts and that is what I am basing my opinons on.

Thank you.

Here is his voting record on guns and gun control.

* Ok for states & cities to determine local gun laws. (Apr 2008)
* FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban. (Apr 2008)
* Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok. (Feb 2008)
* Provide some common-sense enforcement on gun licensing. (Jan 2008)
* 2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month. (Oct 2007)
* Concealed carry OK for retired police officers. (Aug 2007)
* Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities. (Jul 2007)
* Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality. (Oct 2006)
* Bush erred in failing to renew assault weapons ban. (Oct 2004)
* Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. (Jul 1998)
* Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. (Jul 2005)

It seems like Obama wants to ban guns, or limit them in ridiculous ways going off his voting record... Someone tell me one of those things that is ok and I will tell you why it isn't.

This is retarded..

I currently do not own a gun, sold all my rifles prior to my daughter being born.

I do not plan on owning another firearm for a very long time.

But fact is, and god this is the worse Cliche

Gun's don't kill, people do.

Maybe all this effort should be put into removing illegal hand guns from the street. Boston had a program I think earlier this year, if you turned in a gun, no questions asked, you got a $500 gift certificate to I think walmart (which is Ironic in it's own way since they sell guns)

Urban Policy

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

Damned if we do.....damned if we don't. Basically, I believe no matter who's in office, we're pretty much screwed and guaranteed to lose one right or another. It's all a matter of which one you're willing to keep doing whether or not it's against the law.

One day there wasn't a speed limit when cars first made the scene. Very soon after there was and people still choose to break the law. Some get caught. Some don't. I'm not saying it's alright to break the law by any means. Maybe I am, but I'm also saying that no matter what....If the law says I can not have a pistol in my night stand it's not going to stop me from having it. I will think twice, maybe three or four times before firing it, but I would much rather break the law defending my family and suffer the consequences then watch my family suffer without recourse.
