RE: new to jeeps....educated quesions from a novice.

howdy guys and gals...

new to the board. joined to research and gather information on Jeeps.

my girlfriend recently joined ...name is "snook"...since she is the one who wants to buy a jeep soon.

she's a bit on the shy side, but should chime in. i was gonna have her not tell you guys her gender...to alleviate any leg humping. but i figured if i came on and made sure you knew she was taken...it'd help

i'm not new to cars and wrenching...just jeeps. i've been a camaro guy from the get go. owned an 87 IROC camaro for a few years...had to do alot of work to it, and started my learning curve. moved on to a nice 96 Z28 with alot more power and alot nicer. modded that a bit but nothing crazy.
after i totalled that (flipped it into the trees at 75mph) i decided i needed a faster car. so i bought a nearly identical 99 Z28. swapped alot of the mods and added some new ones. recently added a cam to it along with all the other bolt-ons. had it dyno tuned on a slipping clutch and mediocre tune and got 382hp to the wheels.
since then i've installed harland sharp roller rockers, a new SPEC 4 clutch and lightweight aluminum flywheel. and this week i'll be starting my 3" true duals setup for exhaust.

should put me over the 400 rear wheel hp mark. which translates to nearly 450hp at the crank...on stock block and lower end 8)

RE: CJ7 trac bar fab

Welcome to the board! We've got several jeep chicks around here, so I don't think she'll have any problem.

You'll fit in fine here.

yeah i figured there were a few.

i'm enjoying the fact she wants a jeep. there is something DAMN sexy about a girl in a jeep....top down...hair blowing...sunglasses on.

as for the fitting in....
OUCH!

Welcome to the board! And I'm glad you all were okay. Geez.

yea I had the same problem with taking a turn too fast, not quite as fast as you, but fast enough for an suv on a 90 degree right hand turn. Glad to see you made it out well.

I have been pretty safe in the jeeps so far but the need for speed is wrapping around me and I am going the Chevy power route probably next year in C5 vette.

Starting Problem CJ7

let me know if you need any help...i'm a wealth of useless information when it comes to the LSx engine in the C5.

then we can race ;)

Gear ratio after lift

What type of bike are you looking at? I'm working on trying to get a CBR600RR. My perfect one is the 2004 candy blue one. Oh well. Kinda hard to make that type of money in college.

RE: Gear ratio after lift

shit i have no idea...

partial to the CBRs as well...couple friends had them.

but i also like the R1s

but considering how much $$ my car takes up....i'll never own one :(

the price tags on the next upgrades to the camaro have pricetags like this:

heads $2000
rims/tires $2000
lowering springs/shocks $800
rear end $2500

RE: Gear ratio after lift

pfft trees? those arent tree's those are tall weeds... Just kidding, sorry to hear about the car. I used to run Camaros as well, had an '82 berlinetta from 1994-2005, had to sell it when I moved here to Phoenix because they test for emissions. I then decided to get something old enough to get out of emissions and ended up getting a '66 cyclone. I had 390 4V taken out to 400 ci and 400 hp, I'm convinced to this day that it is the best car ever produced in the history of the planet. http://www.lovefords.org/galleries/member/matas/66_mercury.htm

Welcome to the board! A buddy of mine, my wife's cousin's husband, just bought a 05 Honda CBR 600RR, very nice bike. Took it out on a test drive, first time on a street bike, been on dirt bikes my whole life. That had to be my best experience on two wheels ever. I'm looking into getting an 05 as well, kinda partial to black with silver tribal graphics, seems to go together. An added bonus, my wife didn't make a peep when I told her I was getting one after the truck is payed off in April. I guess it helps out that I am remodeling the house for her. She gets what she wants and so do I, I guess. I over heard her telling her cousin that she was going to get me the bikers safety course for my birthday in January. The 06's come out this month, very nice bikes, a little lighter and faster, no black and tribal though............Mikey
