New tires for the cj

It's time. I'm looking for a good off road tire that isn't horrible on the highway either. I'm fixing to make a loooong trip from Texas to Indiana this coming fall and I need tires that can handle it. I've been eying the TRXS and like them but a buddy of mine is really pushing these Cooper Discoverer STT's, saying they'll wear better than the Interco tires. I'm still leaning towards the TRXS . . . What do y'all have to say?

As far as size goes. I'm ashamed to admit but I've forgotten the vital statistic of that size a cj7 can hold at stock height. I thought it was 32, but could have been 31's. I've got about an inch of lift and will put on whichever of those sizes was max at stock height just so I can fit them comfortably. Later, I plan to get an 1.5 of lift from a respectable company, but until then, I need to know. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys, adios.

Any Mudder will be comprimised by heavy street use. rotate often and keep higher pressure on the highway (at least 35 PSI) for even wear. Air down to 30-32 for wet roads, lower for snowy roads.

The TRXUS, STT, and the like are more street friendly, but not as aggressive as a true mudder. The TRXUS, which I have known a few people to have now, seems to be a nice bridge for the gap between an All-terrain and a MT. The STT looks to be about the same, but I have not seen one in action (at least not with the new tread design). FWIW I had the Cooper ST's on my XJ, they were the most aggressive all-terrain I could find and they did much better than my BFG AT's in the mud.

SenorCole,
May I ask what you're planning to come to Indy for and to what part?
Coming to do some wheelin'?
I've lived a lot of places and always come back here to good ol' Indy!
*I just recently bought an 89 YJ and am trying to get it right for wheelin', as my last Jeep (97 - 2.5L) was my DD and I couldn't afford to break it.
I'm planning the TFI upgrade soon as well as the 2100 swap and replacing the ol' Carter. I'm interested in tire choices as well...

*Here's a chart for tire sizes on various models...for a stock CJ7 - 31's
