I have a superwinch lp8500 fairly cheap has been good to me i use it probably a couple of times a weekend all summer long i have pulled out extended cab dodge on 40" boggers that was sunk about 3/4 of the tires,had to chain the jeep to a tree.great winch for the money

Also, does anyone know where to get a good detailed shop manual?

Shop manual as in Chilton or Haynes? Both are OK (I have both of them), but nothing beats the Factory Service Manual (I have the '94 for YJ and XJ), which I found somewhere online... Try looking them up (depending on the year, you may get lucky and find it).
