Here's my intake. This first pic is all the parts in, without the filter attached. I used a 2" pvc coupler, which was FORCED into a 3" pvc drain. The drain had the little cross section guard on it, but that was easily removed with a dremel. The coupler was too big for the drain so I had to shave out just a little bit of the inside of the drain. Then I used a rubber mallet to join them together. They are not coming apart. The metal bracket I picked up in the vent section of Lowes. Where the roof vents and stuff are. I used self tapping screws to join it to where the old intake box was.

Yep thats the part... it just had a big hole in the back of the filter, no rubber... was yours like that? is that a K&N? is there a big difference in performance? cool pics, that helps alot dude![addsig]

HUGE DIFFERENCE! So far I've gotten 257 miles on 14 gallons of gas. That was 2 weeks with no cat and less than 1 week with the air intake. A little quicker off the line too. My filter is just a "Universal" filter. It looks like mine is a RE-0930 High-Flow filter. It's also washable/reusable. LOL, there's a sticker that says, "Intended for off-road, racing or marine applications ONLY. Not intended for emission controlled vehicles"

So where did you get that filter? The rubber boot came with it I assume? I am thinking of making my filter come right down to where the old box was... is there any advantage going across the engine like the intake you can get from quadratec? So many questions... this is what IM is good for! sm289HiPo is mine... [addsig]

True, but I don't have IM.

Ok, across the back is good and bad. Good: out of the way, more room up front and somwhat protected from water splashing on it. Bad; It gets HOT air, you want cold. The colder the better. Also re-running all the little tubes to the back.

Mine is right where the box was, I think this is better!

I got it at a speed shop called Yearwoods. Go here to find a local distributor and on-line place. My filter has a 3" opening. Find pipe that you can use BEFORE you buy the filter. I bought the filter and had to spend 2 days trying to find 3" OD pipe. The black plastic drain was 3.1 inches PERFECT.[addsig]

Well I have an unlimited amount of aluminum tubing at work, especially 3" O.D. The only thing I am missing is that damn boot to go with the filter!! I guess the hunt is on...[addsig]

I havn't bought a filter yet, because of the part that didn't come with it. I'm going to check other K&N dealers around here and if I still cant find what I want then I will have to go to another brand... I will keep you posted, I will have pics on my site when it is finished![addsig]

Hey bigTlilODD, I noticed you put a coupler for the hose that goes to the valve cover... I was looking at my engine today (4.0) and saw there is another hose connected to the stock intake on the backside. Is yours like that? I don't know what it is so I guess I will make it connect to the new intake as well. Juse curious what you did in this situation. Oh by the way I found the filter I was looking for... should be done by the end of the week.

Never mind... i just found out it is a vaccum line...[addsig]
