Just learning need help

I just bought a 1976 Jeep Cherokee chief off of a guy and he had taken the front drive shaft out. When I go to put it back on which side of the driveshaft connects to the transfer case?

I believe on that one the Spline joint goes towards the transfer case.:scratch:

Don't know for sure on that exact rig...but they should only match up one way. Do both ends look exactly the same??

I would put this slip splines closest to the axle.

Sounds like you may be describing the CV joint. Does the big knuckle looking piece have 2 ujoints and there's one ujoint at the opposite end? If so, the CV joint attaches to the transfer case.
