Just bought a 98 SE...some newbie questions

First off, thanks to everyone who helped me before I purchased.

I have a number of questions and I'm sure some, if not all, of these have been answered before so please, let me apologize in advance.

There are little issues I found (all I could find) that I intend on fixing asap.

1. When I turn on the hazard lights, all lights blink except the front left side. However, when turn signals are used, the front left works right. Is there a separate bulb for the flashers?
I'm thinking it might just be a bulb out. Suggestions? This isn't that big of a deal...however I will need to fix this before inspection next year.

2. This next question is in two parts.
A) At night it seems that the only interior light is under the dash on the driver's side. Is there supposed to be one on the passenger side also? Maybe this is another bulb? But I can't find anywhere in the manual where it talks about replacing the passenger side interior bulb(s). Nor can I see one when I poke my head under the glove box.
B) What is the easiest way to disable the interior lights when the doors are off, so I don't drain the battery. I saw someone mentioned putting a switch between the fuse and light..that is something I'll most likely do in the future, but for now, I'm looking for the quick fix. I'm assuming just pulling a fuse? But which fuse (which cavity)?

3. Out of the 4 windsheild washer jets, only 3 are working. Checked under the hood and there doesn't seem to be a crimp. Maybe it's a clog? I'm sure you 4-wheelin types run into this often? Suggestions for cleaning?

4. Finally, I asked this in another post, but I'll reiterate. I plan on putting a sound bar in. I have read that there should be a wiring harness already in place for this? The stereo is aftermarket Pioneer single cd. Where would I look? I've poked my head under the glovebox but can't see anything. Do all sound bars require drilling? Even the ones from jeep?

I appreciate any and all help I can get!!

Thanks

To answer your question best I can.

1.The problem with the hazzards most likley is a faulty flasher. Found in the fuse box, twist and pull to remove, cheap fix at auto part store.

2a. Most likley a burnt out bulb! The sound bar should also add a new interior light, again cheap fix. I just bought a rear view mirror from a junkyard out of a 97 Camaro with lights in the bottom of the mirror, just wire up and I have foward dome lights!

2b. You can install a inline switch for the doors, or pull the fuse either one, A switch hiden just under the dash might be the easiest, just flick it and go. The fuse should say dome I think.

3.This happened to me a couple of years back after my old truck was painted. I just undid the hoses at the pump and blew some compressed air through, cleaned them right out. Or you can use a thin needle and try to poke the clog out but do not recomend. If all else fails I would believe the dealership would carry these fairly cheap

4. A factory sound bar will require zero drilling. Att the holes are pre-drilled and threaded from the factory. As for the harness I have seen it in three places on TJ's, behind the glove just above the kick, pass side bottom on the roll bar, and at the top of the pass roll bar stuffed in the padding. If all else fails, look at the preivious post on this and I explained how to run it from the back of the deck. To remove a pioneer deck, you need keys. go to a best buy or circut sh*ty and go directly to the install bay and ask a tech for some, they will give you a set for free (usually) If all else fails, I can mail you some I have hundreds. You will slide the keys into each side to release the chasis from the cage.

Hope this helps!

Ok, here is more on question 4 ;-)

My uncle is a salesman at a jeep dealership. I asked him to see what he could do on a sound bar for a 98 SE.
His parts guy got back to him and said this:

"You need to buy the sound bar 'kit' for the 98 SE which includes sound bar, wiring and new front speakers which the book says are needed before the sound bar will work. Also, I think there will be a problem wiring the sound bar to a non-jeep radio."

My uncle told me he could get the jeep sound bar kit (including new fronts) for $230.
The price sound reasonable, but I'm not convinced the parts guy new what the hell he was talking about...

opinions?

If you remove the fuse for the door be somewhat careful. When i take that fuse out in my 01' it also disconnects the warning bell for when your lights are on when the key is out of the ignition. So basically if you dont remember to turn your lights off when you get out, no warning bell will go off. I have had a couple a jumpstarts b/c of that, and thats also because i cant remember jack sh--.[addsig]

or...if that happens, and you have a stick...you can pop the clutch instead of getting a jump.....isn't that right WranglerWhat94 LOL

Best weather of the summer! I had the top down since friday and it's staying off for the drive to the office tomorrow. My other car will have to sit and wait til the weather gets real hot again and I need AC. Bought the jeep on Thursday, top was down Friday evening... just finished putting 450 miles on it in a weekend... its been 10 years since my last wrangler and I forgot how much just driving nowhere can be.

Some of my own questions answered.

1. There is no light under the dash for the passenger, looked everywhere.. flat out, it does not exist. So I guess the only interior light the thing has is under the drivers side dash.

2. There is no wiring harness to be found anywhere for a sound bar. Not under/or behind the glove box (had the glove box completely out to get behind the stereo and remove some old speaker wire to a homeade box that doesn't exist anymore). No wiriung present on/near the sport bar. I guess if I put a sound bar in, I'll have to do some splicing...no biggie, the stereo has the wiring available for rear channel which I've taped off temporarily.

3. Did not address the washer fluid jet or the hazards (frankly not a priority and I was having way too much fun)

4. Found the hawaiian seat covers I was looking for at Walmart for $15 each... pretty flimsy but look good and do the job for now until I find something better.[addsig]
