Jeep Liberty Power Steering Problem

Hi -

New to the forum hoping to see if anyone has any ideas about what is causing the power steering problem in my 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport, V6, 4WD, 175,000 miles

My power steering goes out when I am not accelerating (foot is not on the gas pedal). This is not a huge deal but it is starting to annoy my wife when she parks or turns while not accelerating.

I have checked the fluid level and it is fine. No whining or noise coming from power steering pump...

Any ideas or experience with this problem?

Worn pump would be my best guess.
