How to lift it?

Well put tug and i agree 100%...

Hardcore can also be interrpreted as a lifstyle and making the HUGE (at least in my case) amount of sacrifices to be able to go out on the trail and brake shit and fix shit with my buddies. Also leaving having to leave a jeep in the woods for a week and going back day after day to work on them in order to get them out of the woods...It has happened many times to me and my friends!
skipping school cause the Jeep needs to be ready to wheel the following weekend.
Driving an engine 200 plus Km cause a buddy needs it for the weekend..
Spending thanks giving on the trails with your buddies cause its the only time everyone has the weekend off...

Wheeling is all about the gathering...kinda like how jeepers wave to each other on the street.(which i really miss cause i dont have a jeep i can drive on the street).

i had no idea that little remark i made on the first page was going to erupte like this....this is a good thing tho as i have learned alot from this thread!

Joopin...i took a winter to do my SOA because i had to build my D-44 and 9inch up with 5.13's, spool and locker plus build a custom hi-steer system, SYE and DS., new swamper and rims.....all of which takes longer to pay for than to install...you know what i mean...

Lanic...no i am not rich and i have built the DS and Hi-steer( bolting the hi-steer arms onto the flat-top knuckles and not booty fab welding em on....cant be too safe when it comes to steering)...i have been wheeling all summer! and i cant afford to drive/ insurer 2 vechicals so i flat tow my jeep to the trails and drive a POS 500 dollar beater to unviersity and park it behind a dumpster cause i cant afford a parking pass!

Hardcore is posting this at 1:eek:o in the morning!!!!    :lo

Yeah actually now that you mention it I was working on my D44 for about 3 weeks before it was time to do the actual lift. Then after the lift I still needed 2 weeks to finish all the little things:mount tires, new shocks, adjust steering... and yes I actually drove it with no shocks and bump steer... it was quite a ride!

PS..( anybody got any homebrew anti-wrap bars that incorperate a 9inch?)

Weld em on yourself.
You're all correct SUA and SOA both suck. I'm going to Airshox. Just kidding, well not really. I'm going to put Airshox on the rear.
I have seen SUA Jeeps do many impressive things and likewise for my SOA CJ. It's really all about how determined you are to get that Jeep up the hill.
I think for a Jeep I drove often on the street, I would leave it sprung under. Mine drives great on the road with 2.5" lift springs SOA, 40's, beadlocks and hydro steering, but it sees only occasional road use. I have had it up to 70 Mph and it was not scary. It didn't happen overnight though. It took some tweaking and suspension experience to know how to resolve little issues.
One thing you guys should know is that it is almost mandatory to run a traction bar in the rear with an SOA. If you haven't broken the driveshaft, yoke, u-joint or straps yet, you will. The spring will flatten and loose arch then you will start breaking them. The traction bar will help the spring maintain some arch because all the twisting energy will be sent through the traction bar instead of wrapping your springs. The only vehicles I have ever seen that were able to run without the rear traction bars were ones that had added the Chevy overloead leaf to the bottom of the spring pack. I believe that after a while that won't even help.

i didnt see any of the traction tabs for the 9inch....only 35, 44, 60 and 14 bolt. All i need to buy are the tabs that mount on the axle....i want them to look pretty and they proll wont look as nice if i cut them out myself.
