Generating more membership

Hey all. I have noticed that our participation levels have gone down since the switch over to the new software after all of the hacking that happened. (I haven't been much help, I've been swamped at school)

So I pose the question: any body have any ideas on how to increase and maintain members? Let's throw out some ideas!

I know that other clubs/boards will visit other sites and leave links etc. (not spamming, but actually participating) similar to what the Italian Jeep club did some months back.

I know some boards have a flyer linked on the site that members can print off, and put on windshields of jeeps around town.

I think we need to get some of our members back, because the hackers really turned a lot of people away.

Any other ideas?
 

Okay...I can see that we need a lesson in the difference between GENERATING more members, and SCARING existing members into hiding.
 
I really don't have a good answer to your question. You wonder what happend to folks like Ants and others who seemed to be part of the family and then just quit checking in. Without a way of contacting people its hard to find out why they haven't been back or try to convince them to come back.

yeah, no kidding. Ants just disappeared. That sucks.
 

The memberlist shows that she last visited Jeepz on 6/18/06. SHe's here, she just hasn't posted since March.
 

But look on the bright side...we still have sparky and 90xjay to throw out some bright...err wonderful...ummm good...umm... terrible ideas out for us ;)


Ok the best way to generate some new members is to get the word out...maybe we could get some more bumper stickers made and have the members put them on there jeeps.
I know I check out all the jeeps I pass...except ZJ's,XJ's...and KJ's...allot of CJ's and nearly all of those YJ's...




ok the last part was a joke but bumper stickers or maybe window stickers.
 
can I get the free beer right now or do I need to un-join and re-join to get the free beer?

I don't know what the answer is either; though I do know that part of the problem is all the other Jeep sites out there now, myspace alone has a couple dozen of them

Maybe someone should create a myspace page that is a bump for jeepz.com

I can set that up too...with Terry's permission.
 
I agree with Utah on the stickers. I work in the Advertising world as a photographer and have a bunch of designers as friends and even a couple that wheel. I can see if they can put some simple but good designs together.
 

Have you all seen the white oval stickers all of the guys who geocache are displaying?
Everyone who does that pays attention to those and alot of those guys are Jeepers

That's a good idea. Somehow, the .com part needs to be emphasized so they come to the site.
 

We also need to get our name out there on the web. When people search for Jeep boards they need to find us? Anyone know how to increase our name on the search results? I like the t-shirt and sticker idea also. I generally don't like bumper stickers but I'd put a small one on my bumper. A small oval like above with JEEPZ in big letters and .com below in smaller letters.

We have one of the better jeep boards out there we just have to get the word out!

Oh, and free beer and dancing girls really could help...couldn't hurt.
