I just got an 2003 jeep wrangler and when i bought it he said something like when you go to start it sometimes the fuel line loses pressure and fills with air and it will crank for awile before it starts. well this happened today, does this sound right? what is the part i would need to fix it? Thanks
Leak detection pump is what he said. but from what i read everyone elses check engine light is on, and mine is not.

The LDP will not cause the hard start. It's part of your emmission system. For the hard start issue, you can verify that the fuel line and fuel rail is loosing prime by installing a test pressure gauge on the fuel rail port and see if the fuel pressure drops almost instantly when the key is cycled to the off position. IF it does, your likely going to need a fuel pump module if the fuel pressure regulator is not available. It's located on top of your fuel tank.

So I got my super chips programer out and the code is for the leak detection unit and I read that if I take it in Jeep dealership will charge 400 bux to fix.

Is the DTC a large, medium or small leak or a general evap failure?. The first thing to check with an Evap leak is the fuel cap o-ring and make sure its on tight. The next thing is the vacuum lines might have some small cracks thats causing the leak.
