Finished High Steer

Finally put the high steer on my YJ last weekend. Turned out awesome, HUGE difference! I'll get pics up later.

Hey, Joopin, I think it is already tonight in Tokyo... How about them pics???

Haha, okay guys... attaching pics now...

These Brackets are pretty beefy, they are mounted to the knuckle with 5 bolts... 2 of which hold the axle in place. I am very impressed with this conversion, I wish I could have done it with a D44 but it's just not in the budget not to mention this is my only vehicle for now.
The track bar relocation bracket they sent me is awesome too. It actually bolts on in two places on the axle side, there is no way it's moving like my last one (which was bolted AND welded then still broke). Everything is powdercoated and very well made.
I am currently making some new brackets for my dual steering stablizers so they will work with this system, once those are on the jeep will handle even better. I am getting an alignment tomorrow, if you guys have any questions go for it!

You may want a flatter pitman arm to get the draglink and trackbar parallel, I used one from an SJ.

Hey there, sorry i was away on buisness....

The drag link will be more parallel once I get the pitman arm on the box more, it can probably move up another half inch but not with the tools I have. I am still doing work on it before it's aligned, but the front end shop will snug that pitman arm up for me and the bars will be closer to parallel. I don't have any bump-steer right now as it is though so that's good.

I thought the bolts were grade 8 but I guess that one looks like a grade 5... I'll have to check, but they are staying for now... I don't see them breaking anytime soon.

Stupid me forgot to change the ball joints on the pass. side when I had it apart.... the Stomper goes under the knife again tomorrow now.

The pitman arm doesn't go up any higher. If you have that nut reasonably tight, then it's all the way up. Just make sure the nut is tight as hell.

Edit: I can't believe you're still running a track bar and a sway bar. Sorry but I just had to throw that in. :D

Well I think the pitman arm can go up more cause the one I just took off was definately higher up. It's a daily driver still currupt! Once I get another vehicle I can take it off and continue to make it a trailer queen....

ps, I have sway bar discos.:D

I took that extra junk off and mine is a daily driver. But I also run spools so what do I know ;)

Yes sir. Everyday. Keeping the sway bars is one thing, but the track bars don't add much stability. They limit flex more than they're worth keeping on.

So you are all saying "take the track bar off, and leave the sway bar with the discos?" I ask because I am kind of in the same boat as Joopin... I got my 4" lift in place, but lect the track bar in because it is a daily driver....

Yea, there's enough side to side stability provided by the springs and sway bars that you don't need the track bar. You probably won't notice it at all if you take it off. The reason for taking it off is increased flex. As the axle articulates the track bar forces it into an arc motion which then puts the springs into a bind. Taking it off allows the springs a more natural range of travel.

The track bar was added to the YJ's because of all the problems the CJ's had with tipping on high speed turns. The YJ also got a wider track width however which greatly prevents this. You keep the sway bar connected and ditch the track bar you may see a very marginal increase in body roll, but I never saw it.

Heck I ran SOA with no sway bar or track bar for a long time, but I got used to driving it that way.
