My brake light wont stay off. If i hit the brakes hard it will come on and stay on. While it is on if i hit the brakes all the way a time or 2 it will go back off. Any ideas?
Also, During out last snow storm my wipers decided to take a dump on me. Nothin like havin to stap at walmart and get a squegee for the rest of the way home. They were workin fine then i heard a loud thunk then its like they tried to catch again but didnt go vert far. Then they just all the way stopped.
Any ideas on that one as well?
When im in 4wd and come to a stop. If i put in the clutch theres a sound that something is loose in the front. This is ONLY in 4wd. I also have vibes around 45-50mph while in 4wd. I have a set of home made shackles on the jeep now that may be some of the problem. Here is a pic of the front so you know what im talkin about. I dont THINK this is stock. Hope not anyway.

Sorry for being big. Dont know how to resize them

sorry but those shackles are scarry.my xj had a noise like that and it could be a fey things like your velocity joint or slak in slip yoke part of your front driv shaft or inturnal axle parts.

the noise is only when im going to a stop. Other then that its fine. Cruzing, take off ect... didnt know if the front springs/shackles had anything to do with it. Im hopin to get some stock ones to go back on it soon. I bought it that way

Noise and vibes are probably the front shaft. The brake light switch on the back of the pedal is stuck. Your wiper motor sounds like it has stripped the gears and... are you going to plow some corn rows with those shackles???

front shaft? Someone told me that since my shackle and spring setup is crap that its not keeping the front axle centered like it should and that could cause some problems. Is this true? How hard is it to fix the wiper gears? LOL How would one go about getting TO the wipers?

My guess is that your front axle angle has changed due to the horrible shackles and is causing at the very least the vibrations you feel in the driveshaft....yeah, those are scary shackles. I'd drive something else till you get the right shackles on it....seriously. I'm not dissing your Jeep, I understand it was fubar'd by someone else and you bought it that way, but look at your approach angle....it's terrible! You're likely to hit something with those on a trail and bend the crap out of everything, if not rip the shackles and hangers clean off the front end! I'd get'em fixed ASAP if I were you, you'll be much happier (and safer) once you do.

Not sure on the YJ but the CJ wiper motor is between the dash and the windshield frame. Fold down the windshield and remove the 3 bolts from the motor and retainer clip from the internal arm assembly. The motor and gears are one unit. It's easy and quick to replace.
Check the front driveshaft by wiggling and turnign it sumultaneously. If it feels sloppy then either your u-joint or CV shaft is worn out.

Oh yeah, the brake light switch is in front of the brake pedal arm up by the hanger. Disonnect the wires and screw it out. They are cheap to replace.

Thanks everybody. Ill check it out tomorrow. Ill get back to you. I have a new set of shackles coming. Will i need to get a differnt set of springs?

Yours look pretty flat, Id at least have them re-arched, but would probably spring for a full replacement.

Ditto on the shackles. Yikes!
For the brake light switch, try hitting it with some WD40 or something. It probably just has some crud in it that is making it bind up.
As for the wipers, you could have broken part of the linkage too. I had the exact same thing happen in my CJ-7 once, and one of the arms was broken off. Its a pretty simple system and you will know if its broken right away when you get in there.
