Ran system check of diognostic codes after getting engine malfunction icon. Took it to dealer last wk and they ran test and said gas cap was problem.
Replaced it and like I said ran test and gas cap message came up on odometer.
Thinking this is the problem and don't think it is too much of a big deal.
Opinions?

Just a guess but if the gas cap code keeps coming up it has to be a leak either at the cap or another part of the fuel system, or the sending unit is bad. I don’t know how the sensor works or where it is located on the system but something needs to tell the computer the cap is on and working properly.

Could be an EVAP leak elsewhere besides the cap.

Sounds like it's still the dealership's problem.

This will be an Evaporative emmisions DTC. If the fuel cap doesn't correct the issue, there would be another component involved such as the ESIM (switch) or the ORVR(onboard refuel vapor recovery) fault. If this 07 JK model is still under warranty, i would suggest that you take it back to them to repair this issue.

Thank's for the welcome and advice.
Think I'll get another Mopar cap or maybe take it back to the stealership and see if they will put one on to see if it solves the issue.
