Thaks for reading, I just picked up a '99 Grand Cherokee Limited, and it has some issues that have me a little stumped. Its a one owner and it just turned 100k, V8, auto, NP247j transfer case.
Here are the problems, at low speeds making tight turns in both directions it makes a clunking sound, when breaking somewhat hard it sounds like something is still spinning in the transfer case(maybe transmission, but you can feel it on the transfer case gear selecter), and finally on the highway 55mph+ when when accelerating there is a clunking sound that you can feel in the steering wheel, and the clumking increases with engine speed.
Ive done some reading and i feel the viscous coupler in the transfer case could be an issue, as it seems somewhat common for the mileage. I just done want to throw parts at this truck. Does anyone have any input???? :???: Thanks!
