brake lights not working right

I have a 72 wagoner, the brake lights don't work when I turn on the headlights. This just started happening, before it would take a little bit for them to start working. Can any one help with this issue?

Sounds like a bad ground to me. I'd open them up and clean them well, getting rid of any rust you find.

pull the bulbs out and clean out the sockets. They oxidize (i think that is what its called) like the blue looking powder on car battery terminals you sometimes see. Makes for a bad connection. or the brake switch at the pedal as mentioned above.

I'd put money on it being a bad ground. Rig up a wire with clips on each end, and clip one to the ground at the brake light and the other end to a good frame ground. If that solves it, then you need to locate the brake light ground and fix it.

Add an extra ground wire to each brake light socket. I have hose clamped a wire to mine and put it to the body with a screw.
