aux offroad lights

What do u guys run and recomend? Something bright and a far reaching beam. Maybe wide too. And is it easy to install?
 

From what I've heard, PIAA is the name brand. For myself, I picked up a pair of lights at Harbor Freight for $15 on sale.
 
Piaa are great. I run there hid lights. Pricey but amazing. But the new thing is led. They are powerful draw very little and you can get different beams from one light bar. But they are also pricey

How bout wiring them what's the dos and donts? Have any experience with hella or kc lights?
 

I've run kc before they work. Always use a relay for each pair or lights. Use sufficient guage wire. A fuse. And run your switch as ground side controls.
 
Most companies use a plug and play type of harness that's really easy to set up, just have to tap into your headlight wire for the relay if you want to use that.

I used IPF lights for a long time and like 'em. I had a set of Hella a long time ago, both lenses cracked pretty quickly then again that could just be bad luck with cars kicking up rocks. I've never heard a bad thing about PIAA or KC.
 
I have long range KC Lights on the windshield brackets and on the front bumper I have a pair of those rubber utility lights, I believe 3.5 - 4" with 150 what bulbs in them.
The KC's shine forever and the Utility lights brighten up the front of the jeep with a wide pattern

But let me add,
I bought the KC's from Autozone for $109.00
and they sell Pilot brand that I believe are made from the same company...They look identical and half the price.....:D
 
KC slimlites 130W long range on windshield. KC slim driving 130W off the bumper hoop bottom. KC Rally 800 130W off the bumper hoop top.

23Yr warranty and bright and weather nice. High initial cost.
 
Let me ask this what do you guys think work best. Halogen or regular bulbs. I want to run an on/off switch type of deals so they are independent off the head lights. I'm going to look into harbor freight. Autozone here don't seem to have to much options

Cool. You will be happy. I would do two pencil beam on the windshield and two wide beam on the bumper. That would work good.
 

My plans would be power going from battery-fuse then to the light. Best place to ground off too. Does each light need a individual power wire or can I use the same wore through out? Would 8 gauge wiring be sufficient?
 
10 should be lots. I would run same guage wire as the relay. Most relays are 30 amps. A pair of lights shouldn't go over the 15 amp mark.
 
I would run 2 power wires from the relay. If hooked in series the lights will only get half the power
 

Even if its four lights total per relay? Maybe I will just run two separate relays. One for the bumber set and another for the windshield set
 
How about the grounds. Would the body panels work or the chassis with the paint scraped off?
 
I would run 2 relays that way you can choose which lights you want on. I would ground it right to the mounts. Should be good usually steel bumper or windshield frame. Just make sure they are clean.

Will do. Thanks for all your help and input. One last thing how will I know if the lights I choose are pencil beams and wide beams. I'm leaning more toward the kc lights
