I'm finishing up my amc 360 project and I hit a few problems and have a few questions.

1.I'm putting the dipstick in but it won't go in all the way. is it ok to leave it like it like that? will it shoot out or give a bad reading?

2.there is a hole where the egr valve should be. so where do I put the egr valve?? I know i don't need it since my jeep is 36 yrs old but I have the valve so I want to put it on. how do I make that happen, if possible?

3.where does the water temp gauge wire hook up to?

4. on the back left of the manifold there is a tube that sticks up. however I cant remember what two things that hooks up to. does anyone know??

any answers or advise anyone can offer is greatly appreciated!

1) The dipstick tube has to be installed all the way to the shoulder of the tube to the block to get an accurate oil level reading however, i know what your talking about IT not going in all the way. I ended up breaking 2 tubes before the 3rd one finally went in without a hitch. What you can do is seal the surrounding area with RTV and secure the upper section of the tube with the bracket that bolts to the valve cover retainer.

2)If you absolutely want to re-install the EGR, the option i see is to get an intake manifold that HAS that provision, other than that, i don't know how else it would mount up. Mine WAS on the passenger rear of the intake manifold.

3) Which tube? the one that's on the passenger side rear corner?. If it is, that's a coolant passage for the heater core. The other line comes out of the waterpump to the heater core. If it's not what you meant, take a pic and post it so we know what we are looking at.

thanks for the help! any thoughts for my #3??

Where do you want to hook up the water temp. gauge? I'm assuming it's at the block and if so if you look where the water return tube coming off the top of the radiator connects to the block you should see a brass nut that screws into a flange on the block. I just replaced the stock water temp gauge with an autometer gauge and that's where I hooked it up at.

OOppps, i skipped a number:shock:, sorry. The factory AMC360 water temp sensor is on the driver side forward area of the intake manifold by the thermostat housing. It's a one wire sensor for an electronic gauge.
