I have a 99 grand cherokee. At night when the head and tail lights kick on, the driver side brake light quits working. The blinker still works. When you push the brake pedal it just goes dark on that side. But it works fine without the tail lights on.

Take tail lights out.where bulbs twist in it has little tabs that get smashed down. Pull them up a little to create better contact.

HELP!! fuzz busted me the other evening after work and said i had a left brake light out , and that my tailights were tinted a little dark, anyways i figured id change the bulb and all would be ok. WRONG! When i took the tailight out and changed the bulb i found electrical tape, i undo it and its bare wire that someone twisted together and taped up. I cleaned the wire and retaped it good and still all lights worked except left reverse light or brake, i also noticed the tailight was melted really bad on one of the outlets, after finding all this i just ordered new tailights and installed them, when applied the brake all drivers side lights went out, let off and they come back on, messed with connections and checked fuses and they all worked except drivers side reverse, switched bulbs still all work except left reverse, now tonight after jumping a buddies 05 grand haha i discovered now that the right side brake light not working along with left reverse not working, so i have flashers, blinkers, tail lights, but no left reverse and no right brake!! Ahhh any help greatly appreciated!!!

i had an extra tail light from a wrecked jeep so I hooked it up in place of the one that wasnt working right and that fixed the problem, Im still gonna ck the contacts on the non working light, but I feel pretty certain that was the problem, thx.

The circuit boards suck in those. Made in China "wins" again.
