I have more of a curiosity question.I have what they call a 1997 TJ.

I say that because mine was made in 96.I originally thought it was late 96 like September.Even now you will be able to buy a 2010 model in September of 2009.

Mine is way off.I took the doors off today,alot of fun with shake and lift and shake some more.Since I was there i took a good look at the factory sticker on the door jam.

Manufacturing date 03 1996..Yes March of 1996.How do you call that a 97 when it was made a year earlier?Would there be any differences with real 97 TJ's.

It's so early in '96 because there is no actual '96 Wrangler, jeep took a year off to change over from the YJ to the TJ. They probably just started production on the '97 sooner than they ordinarily would.

That's only half true. Early '95 YJ's are most like the '94, while late model '95 YJ's have many TJ parts like the windshield snubbers, throttle body, engine belt routing, transfer case internals, etc.

I like to refer to the late model '95 YJ as the '95.5 model. Just like jeep to use whatever parts are available at a given time.

Happy with my '95.5, just takes a little extra work when buying engine parts. Easiest to just get parts for a '97 TJ.

I learned a long time ago never buy the first model year.
I had a 87 YJ. not good but by the 92 they got better.
97 TJ's were a lot of 2.8's.
