82 CJ7 Steering Box

Im having trouble with the power steering box on my '82 CJ7.
It's leaking pretty bad and seems to have a good amount of play in it:
Any can tell me if these things are rebuilable,
Can ya do a seal replacement
or can it be replaced with one from a different type vehicle ?

Lots of Saginaw boxes on GM vehicles, but I think the turning ratios are different. You can get a replacement from your local parts store/ quadratec/ 4wd parts etc, but they're proud of them. I replaced mine once with a used box, had the same problems, so bought an AGR Super Box 2 (course you have to get their pump too). Love it, drives so much nicer....

Checker has reman. boxes for around $150-180. I can't remember if it was 150+ core making it around 180 or 180 + core. They also have a seal kit at autozone for $10-20.

The last stock rebuilt I bought, was mail order from www.larescorp.com . It´s been awhile, but back when, I paid $110 delivered, including postage to N.Y. and a $20 (I think) rebate for the core ( if returned by mail). I also, had them do a 1 ton upgrade, for a W200 Dodge, with a custom ratio, that turned out awesome and was HD. Worked well with 35´s.

Thanks for info !
I may go with the seal kit deal for now. Maybe just to see if I can do it.
Shoot, I just rebuilt a T-5 for it.I'd never done that either. HA!
