IMO, as a daily driver, i would prefer the 4.0 liter fuel injection over the 4.2 that's possibly still a carburated engine. Fuel injection will be more fuel efficient and more reliable. As for the transmission?, that's like a bowl of worms..It's more of a drivers preference than anything else.. I prefer a manual trans. over an automatic for the simple reason that i enjoy the torque on demand at the setting i wish for when i want it. Also, a manual trans is a lot easier to rebuild when i need to, rather than an automatic that has a hydraulic and electronic AND mechanical components that will eventually fail in time that leads to a costly repair and a pain in the ARSE. On the other hand, the automatic trans. is really convenient on a stop and go traffic and preffered by a lot of offroaders that wants the extra hand somewhere else like calling 911 for help or talking to their wives.
