2WD Rubicon?!?!??!

What is up with the fuel tank? It looks like a over sized muffler!

That's because it is. They moved the fuel tank up and attached it to the inside frame rail. Basically swapping the position of the muffler and the gas tank. Dumb idea if you want my $0.02

Ya wanna get upset about where jeep is going, look at the compass. All of a sudden the new wrangler looks a lot better.

Well I wasn't going there but...
you had to go there didnt you...
You know your opening a can of argument! But you had to go there.
Nope I wont...I will not...arrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhh

Real jeeps have round head lights...oh wait the 4 doors 2wd do to...

I don't have a problem with the compass so long as they continue to make the SWB Jeeps. I'd like to see a Truck like the Gladiator concept too.

Really, that Compass gets great mileage for having 4WD. No one is going to go offroading in one (if they have any sense), but they will probably sell. As poorly as DC did financially over the last year or two I hope it does. I certainly can see why they built it.

Call me crazy, but from what I've seen on Jeep.com the Rubi is NOT available in 2 wheel drive, and the 2 door models of the X and Sahara aren't available in 2 wheel drive, but the X and Sahara in the 4 door ARE available in 2 wheel drive....... lot of talk about it, so if someone has an add etc. for a 2 wheel drive Rubi in 2 or 4 doors, I'd love to see it.. the 2 wheed drive option is blasphemy, but at least they don't offer it in the rubi!

And we all know the only time a jeep should be driven in 2 wheel drive is when the other axel is still laying on the rocks.....

I stand corrected. For all intents and purposes, replace "Rubicon" with "Wrangler" in the name of this thread.

Now I gotta figure out where I read that :???:

2WD Wrangler is like putting a 90 HP motor in a Corvette.

Please tell me this is a pic of the rear of a 2wd. Cause if not some one has lost their cotton pickin ever luvin minds!

Not sure if that is the 2WD or 4WD, but I've actually crawled under the 07 Rubicon (2 door of course), and it's the same very low rear shock mount!

I've sent an inquiry to Quadratec to ask them if they or any of their supplies had seen this and if there was anything planned to fix this "rock cattching" obstacle!

no reply yet .....

$22,000 for a non-4wd? WTF? I am in sticker shock. I'd hate to see the price of a decent 4WD model. They lost their ever lovin minds. Guys I hate to say it, but I think Jeep may go under for this one. First they screwed up by getting rid of the XJ for the Liberty (trying to cover their mistake by taking away the better option) and now this. I think this is going to be the Pinto of the Jeep.

I have priced out an 07 Rubicon and it comes to an invoice of $26,795. It does not have many of those "nice to have" features. I just want a capable Rubicon! The dealer has said he will sell it to me at invoice!

And, I'm hoping DC is not "Just Kidding" with the JK designation!!!

If you're referring to that large thing under the rear end - YES, that is a muffler! The only other place I've seen such a large muffler is on very large trucks, like those that work the mines!

They relocated the fuel tank to the right side next to the frame.
