2WD Rubicon?!?!??!

I've got way more respect for a even slightly modified XJ than that booty fabbed pic of a thing that was posted.
That thing couldn't clear a brick on a city street. That's that good German engineering!

My XJ may have a few GM parts thrown in for good measure. But it still has the dependable, reliable, 4.0 that DC sold down the river for a 3.8 VAN motor that makes all of it's torque over 5000 rpms, another great decision. That'll be good for trails...

For all of you "purest" the XJ was a financial boom for the Jeep label. It was a big sucess and made the whole company stronger from the sales. It has earned it's place in the family history and it's not a bas*ard child.

I will give you the fact that a 2wd rubicon is an oximoron. You obviously arent taking it to the rubicon but if its geared lower and better equipped I guess they will sell some for some type of towing or utility. Does any one know whether they built in the benefits for a reason or are they just trying to get the grocery getter to pay for more options. They should have called it something else. Like the ranchero or something like that.

And DC dumped it to make the "Liberty"................now a 2WD "Rubicon"............no more 4banger......:( :( :(

Long live the XJ!!!!!!! And while we're at it, Long live the Commanche!!!!!!

No wonder the Germans lost the war.

Screw the four banger already. Thats ancient history already. Jeez. Whats dissappionting is we never get an option of a bigger engine. oesnt Dodge have a full line of truck engines they could offer from thier pickup line. Arent the bolt patterns the same. They should at least offer extra grunt.

I just think it's funny how your perspective changed when you dumped the grocery getter for a real Jeep. Even you yourself said in that thread that waving to a stock XJ is a "waste of time".
I wish I could have kept my XJ, it was the most capable Jeep I have owned thus far.

This would have been Nice. I bet this would have sold TK's

4.7 High Output Magnum V8
260 hp
310 lb-ft torque
15 city /
20 hwy*

My first Jeep was a 2.5L. I loved it. Granted, it was no powerhouse, but it got 20 mpg with 32" tires and where it lacked power for hills I just used 4low. I hate to see it go, but sales dictated that. They just weren't selling, mostly because the big jump in power to the 4.0L and the small difference in rated fuel economy.

As for more power, I hate to beat a drum but I am looking forward to seeing the CRD (diesel) in the TK. Low end torque and fuel efficient. It's available in Europe so who knows...

That's what I mean, the 4 cyl was only rated for 21 mpg with a 6 speed. Hard to market that when you get 20 mpg out of a V8.

My hunch is you don't see powerful engines like that in the TK because they are light and have a high center of gravity (as opposed to the trucks). There's probably a formula somewhere that has a safety factor in it. This is why they put those airflow restrictors in the 4.0L TJ's and YJ's but not the XJ's or ZJ's. Like I said it's a hunch.

The first Jeeps built were equipped only with the mighty 4banger  . There were no I-6's or V-8's runnin' around on the battlefields. Just another snub from DC (and you, apparently) to the roots of Jeep brand.

Long live the 4Banger!!!!!!

Thats just sad..... nobody wants to give me a Jeep wave? I am upset now. What did me or my XJ do to any of you? Just kidding. I still wave whne i can, but not too many people wave back. Oh well they suck if they don't wave back. Boo and hiss to them. You all better wave back to me. Hey I am so constant on the wave that I have even done it while in my patrol car. Don't wave back then i'm pulling your behind over.

Now thats funny

Out here no one waves. No one offroads. Yet everyone has a jeep. I stop at lights with three wrangles two libertys and granny and a cheroke. Its incredible. And not one has heard of a jeep wave. If you wave they look at you like your a nut!

They might see a wave as a sign of aggression and try and bust off a cap:purple: :purple:

Geez man he's in Long Island, not The Bronx :purple:

I should re-iterate, I don't initiate waves to stock, non SWB Jeeps. Never have no matter what I was driving - YJ, XJ. The majority don't wave back anyhow. I would of course, return one though.

It's not because of anything other than the fact that many of those folks wouldn't know what the heck I was waving for. Like I said in an earleir thread, if there are mods on it, I wave because it is more likely they won't look at me crosseyed.

Now... what to do if a 2WD 4 door X package TK owner waves? I'd have to wave back, but I bet that it won't happen very often.

At one point, the passenger in my Jeep just hung her head outta the back and barked at any one weather they waved or not.... I LOVE CRAZY WOMEN.... she even wore a collar.... she is/was more of a (faithful) companion though

Yea, You have to be careful were and who you wave to around Detroit, you just might be flashing the wrong gang sign. I try to wave to any one driving any jeep, I don't care if they think im sycotic.

I have the same prob in my WJ, I don't get a wave back 98% of the time. Even with the Kick @$$ bumper on it. THought was just we had no real jeeperz in this area just a bunch of people pretending that they are cool by owning a jeep.

hey hey now, watch the yankess comment there. I was a yankee (now called a come here or transplant) J/K. The funny thing is i get waves from gys and gals in my club, but the other people i see who don't wave, i bet $5 they don't even put their jeeps into 4 LO whatsoever. Probably don't even know what it means. Oh well we all know who true Jeepers are. Dirt badges and dings and dents show.
