I just bought a 1972 j2000. I'm pretty sure I overpayed for it but wanted the truck. It has 42,000 original miles and pretty good shape. I am having a fit finding a tailgate. Also leaning to drivers side a bit. Any ideas on tailgate? Too original to modify with aftermarket... Thanks ..

Search craigslist. a member of my club bought a 79 J10
and turned it into this
He had to replace the bed, it was just not worth trying to save (rotted really bad) He searched south west craigslist and found the entire bed (sans tailgate) in Arizona, then he just found a tailgate in New Mexico. it was easy for him to justify buying a rust free part from the opposite side of the country, and have them shipped up to the north east. just takes some time and patience.
