could anybody give me any info on the xj chassis stiffener that tandj performance sells. having problems trying to bring up the item on they website but even though it says it fits up to the 96 it does fit all years because they emailed me. petersen's 4wheel and off-road recommends it. thanks for the info.

Haven´t seen the particular, frame stiffener, you mentioned. But most I have seen, seem to stiffin front to rear. While in my mind and experience, most of the flex, relative to handling, is lateral.
Many I have seen tie the UCA frame bracket, to the rear front spring mount on each side, with a length of tubing. Which will porbably help take out the occasional bow in the frame, but do little for frame twist. And might stress up the mounting areas to a conciderable degree. Been my experience, too stiff causes cracks, while to much flex can cause metal fatigue and tearing.
Guess the only way to know for sure, is to put it on and beat the heck out of it and see what breaks first.
I´ve got an extra frame cross member, I´m gonna install cross frame as far forward as practical and then tie, both frame cross members, into a set of light rock rails. Not so heavy it won´t bow and flex some, but heavy enough to control some of the lateral and longitudal flex. I want it to flex some, but don´t want the frame twist, to affect steering much. Most of my driving is high speed dirt road, not rock crawling.

Currie makes a set that was on JP Magazine's project XJ. They say it even quiets the faint squeaking in the door seals (anybody know this annoying squeak like I do)? I thought about getting them for that alone!!!
